In a difficult economic climate Cherie Buckner-Webb chose to effect change in a new arena by running for public office in 2010. Her life-long influence in the community made possible energetic campaigns supported by a wide variety of talented and committed citizens. She was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in 2010 and the Idaho State Senate in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 by a substantial margin. Cherie’s message in the Statehouse reflects the same collaborative and visionary goals she emphasizes in her life and work. 

Buckner-Webb is the founder and principal of Sojourner Coaching, “Supporting highly motivated women and men to navigate the waters of their lives with purpose.” A certified professional coach and consultant, she brings a wealth of experience to the practice.  

Her extensive international business background includes positions in program management, DEI, sales and marketing, business and organizational development, and operations.  Her expertise includes cross cultural collaboration, leadership development, facilitation, consultation, and coaching for individuals, teams, and organizations. In addition to her on-going work in the corporate and non-profit environments, Cherie assists institutions of higher education in the development of curriculum and training. She is a respected speaker who is in high demand for her presentations addressing leadership, purpose, success, and responsibility in the business context. Cherie is also a talented vocalist.

Buckner-Webb holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University, and a Masters of Social Work Management/Community Planning/Social Work Administration from Northwest Nazarene University.  

Cherie’s credo, “leave a legacy,” underscores her work in every area of activity and to that end she donates countless hours to a variety of community organizations. She is the recipient of numerous awards in acknowledgement of her commitment and devotion to volunteerism. Buckner-Webb currently serves on the boards of the Andrus Center for Public Policy, the Northwest Area Foundation, Women and Children’s Alliance, and College of Western Idaho, and the Blue Cross of Idaho Care Plus Board. 

Cherie is married to the Rev. Henry Webb and has two adult sons, Sean and Phillip Thompson and a granddaughter, Zaida, whom she adores.
